I’ve been exploring the idea of op-art motifs as a stand-in for the self over the past few years, featuring all the component parts of what we typically identify with to form the self, in my paintings. A brain for thoughts and stories we tell ourselves; the heart for feelings and emotions; eyes for seeing, our strongest sense; hands for the tactile sense and creating… This one is the body.
